Plug Power, Certarus Enter Partnership to Boost Green Hydrogen Adoption

Plug Power (PLUG) and Certarus said Tuesday they entered into a long-term supply and logistics agreement to offer green hydrogen fuel as an affordable option to North American companies looking to reduce their carbon footprint.

As part of the collaboration, Certarus will receive up to 10 tons of green hydrogen per day from Plug Power's North American hydrogen production network, starting the first quarter of 2022. It will transport the hydrogen directly from production locations to Plug Power's and Certarus' end-users, which include mining, power generation, natural gas midstream, and industrial energy customers. Certarus will offer hydrogen to its customers as either a pure or methane-blended fuel in order to further green hydrogen adoption in energy transition applications, the companies said in a statement.

Plug Power CEO Andy Marsh said the company aims to deliver 500 tons of green hydrogen per day by 2025 and 1,000 tons per day by 2028. He added that the Certarus partnership is a key step in building a green hydrogen ecosystem that serves large energy sectors and enables Plug Power to scale its overall delivery capabilities.
